| “WHAT I SAW ALONG THE WAY” |
As a fashion photographer for more than
thirty-five years, my work took me to many places and allowed me to
see many things that I might not otherwise have had a chance to
observe. During all that time, I always carried my trusty Leica with
me and I used it extensively to take pictures of and isolate the
many fleeting moments that caught my attention.
Two years ago, in June 2003, I retired from the
World of Fashion and moved to California. Amongst the many
belongings I took with me, was an array of boxes filled with
countless contact sheets, negatives and prints, representing the
thousands of images I had recorded with my Leica. Unfortunately my
archival skills leave much to be desired and I discovered that I was
faced with a monumental mess. I might never have found the courage
to tackle the disarray I found in those boxes, had it not been for
my wife Tammi, whose flawless taste, relentless dedication and
constant support eventually led me to choose approximately one
hundred images that I am now showing on this website. There are many
more to come, but I think the work I am displaying here is generally
representative of “What I Saw Along the Way.” These images are
exclusively shot on film; nothing is digitalized; nothing is
retouched. It's reality as I saw it.
